About Kids Cooking Summer Camp:

The goal of camp is to have fun, explore with our senses, and enjoy good food. During our time together, campers will:

– Exercise their brains by thinking and talking about tastes and flavors

– Practice fine motor skills by chopping, mixing, pinching, shaking, and pouring ingredients

– Learn how to properly and safely use kitchen tools

– Discover how food fosters a sense of community by working and eating together

– Get their hands dirty in the garden and explore the living worm bins

– Practice cleaning up and taking care of tools and spaces

This program will be led by the child. They will be encouraged to participate, but if they decline a task, there will be other fun activities to do or just observe.

Each day will consist of a morning greet period, menu, safety, and task explanation, followed by free play and snack, then onto cooking and exploring food! We will end the day by sitting down together and enjoying the food we cooked. Then, clean up and free play until pickup.

About the space and safety:

The camp will utilize both indoor and outdoor/backyard spaces. There should be adequate parking out front for drop off and pick up.

Safety in the kitchen is paramount. Students will be using kid-friendly tables to work off of and kid-friendly tools (plastic knives). When a recipe calls for use of the burner or oven, kids will be asked to observe while Teacher Adam works with the heat. Lastly, please inform us of any food allergy your child may have so we can accommodate.
